PARISH NEWS

Summer Fayre thanks to all who helped in any way and from the very good support from our parishioners and non catholic friends of our parish. We raised the fantastic sum of £1257.47

Reflections:- One of the loveliest things in life is to feel the presence of God, when the church is full but very prayerful and silent. Perhaps this short reflection will remind us. Be silent, be thoughtful, be reverent for this is the house of God. Before Mass, speak to God, during Mass let God speak to you, after Mass speak to each other quietly.

Flowers for Church: Many parishioners give very generously towards church flowers which is greatly appreciated so, if there is anything in  particular you would like. e.g. a favourite statue with your favourite flowers or an arrangement in the memory of  a loved one please see Jo Anne and she will do her best to accommodate your wishes. If you require an arrangement for a special  date such as an anniversary please let us know in advance so flowers can be ordered.

The Bulletin: if you would like to share some good news with the parish, please let us know and we can announce it on the Bulletin, also don't forget to check out the notice boards for Diocesan news, courses etc.

Help needed:- Is there any handy persons in the parish that would like to help out with small jobs, just like in your own home small jobs crop up in the church and the presbytery . Please let us know if you maybe able to lend a hand. Thank you.

Know Your Saviour:- The more we understand Jesus, the deeper we can love him. The source recommended, even by non-Catholics, is the new catholic catechism. A copy is available on the Parish Library in Church, but also many videos and books are available. Have a browse through and grow.

The Parish Lending Library.:- and their exciting book "Rome Sweet Home", (Our Journey to Catholicism) with the ardent desire below, that we Catholics learn the richness of our teachings. Our library of books and tapes at the bookcase near the Sacristy could be helpful. Scott Hahn tapes and books will excite you. Frances Hogan tapes are easy to listen to with her relaxed Dublin accent but also most informative. Take a few tapes to listen to in your car or at home and grow in the love of Jesus.

Children Liturgy:- If anyone is interested in helping out or feel they can help in any way please come along.

Piety for Sale:- Please take a look at our new range of cards and gifts. New stock has arrived, cards and a new line of Candles and many more gifts, available at the stand at the back of church, if there is anything special you would like to order see Joanne Musgrave. All profits go to Church funds.

NOTICE Because of fire hazard and congestion, the lobby at the back of church must be kept clear, except for mothers with young children and sick people.

Offertory Envelopes :-  Boxes of envelopes for planned giving are available from the back of church. Anyone who has not had envelopes in the past please consider taking a set as this helps us to forecast Parish income over the coming year. If you pay income tax and are not in the Gift Aid Scheme please consider joining as this tax can be claimed back by the Parish thus boosting Parish funds with no extra cost to you. Forms are available at the back of Church.

Gift Aid Claims During tax year 2006/2007 we claimed back £2221.75 income tax from 31 gift aid members of this parish. If you pay tax and are not a member of the gift aid scheme see Pat Kimmitt or Joanne Musgrave for details.

Parish Accounts:- A report of the Parish Accounts will be available each month at the back of church. If you have any questions regarding the reports see Pat Kimmitt.

Fund Raising:- If you have any ideas to raise money for the church and would like to organise something please let Joanna Musgrave know. We can publicise the event. The coffee evening ladies will be willing to advise you on how to advertise your event.

Church Raffle:-Many thanks to those who supported last months raffle it raised £155.50 for church funds.

Mission Box Holders: The amount realised for the June  quarter  was £479.62 this has been forwarded to Mill Hill missionaries in Durham.

First Aiders:- We now have two First Aiders, Jane Robertson and Ian Robinson.

Child Protection:-Jo Anne Laing is our our Parish representative  and will be assisted by five parishioners who represent a cross section of age, gender etc. If you are in a roll which involves working with children or if you visit the sick e.g. taking them Holy Communion you will need a CRB disclosure. Your names are being submitted to the Diocese and you will be approached in the near future to have your forms filled in. The Diocese has expressed that every parish has completed this task this year. If you have any questions please ask Jo Anne as this is part of her role. She is working alongside Fr, McCullagh to protect the children and vulnerable adults of our parish.
